Splint
A dental splint is referred to several types of orthodontic devices that are designed to address dental problems such as loose teeth and bruxism, in addition to problems with snoring and apnea.
The procedure known as dental splinting is used to treat loose teeth by joining them together. The splint stabilizes teeth so that they are less likely to move, which can weaken teeth and cause them to loosen or even fall. It may be used for temporary stabilization of loose teeth, or to address ongoing issues.
For people with temporo-mandibular joint disorder and bruxism, a dental splint is used in order to protect the teeth from damage during the night. In patients suffering from these two disorders, the splint receives the grinding action, rather than the teeth so that teeth and jaw strain can be reduced
